"THE SELBY" photography of interiors...

Georgie

I am obsessed with details, with colors, with interiors and people with taste. I have found this site called http://www.theselby.com where we can go inside the homes of creative people! I am someone who is very ecclectic and appreciates charm when I talk about my preferred place to spend time. I love STUFF! The junk you might throw away is my treasure. I have always grown up in a very clean, white, minimalistic home because it is my fathers style,,, he hates STUFF! so when you would go in my area of the house it was like a burst of color and craziness. I remember not feeling comfortable to even step foot in some of the rooms we had growing up because just sitting on the couch would leave a mark on our plush white sofas from London. The only colors we had were very muted in a work of art but mainly everything was white, off white, grays, and of course touches of black like in our Yamaha piano and such. Things have softened up a bit since and we now rent an older home with an Arab architecture. Our apartment in Madrid also has its charm with old wooden floors and an incredible roof deck in the heart of the city. We used to have a home in the south that was made of scraps from my fathers hippy years with a Swiss girlfriend named Katia that inspired me the most! The arches, the beaded curtains, the boganvillias, the avocado trees, the old Virgin Mary statue with a broken hand, the bathrooms were made of the tiles with mistakes that the factories were going to throw away! The dining room table was made of an old sewing machine stand which was iron and had a giant pedal with a piece of wood over it. The house had charm. It was the opposite of the type of home I lived in in Miami but of course I appreciated all of it. When I live in clutter it affects my mood... I like order because I have realized to appreciate it. Sometimes I just want to burn everything I own. ;) When I drive around neighborhoods with beautiful homes I wish I could look INSIDE! When I walk around manhattan and get glipses of book shelves or chandeliers I get excited. We all have our own homes with our own desicions as to what style and that says a lot about ourselves. So it seems to me, my family likes the modern minimalism for everyday life but when we vacation we go to our very very charming home in the north of Spain where its a 3 story home that looks like a dollhouse! I will try to post pictures. I have selected all of the photographs from The Selby site that I found were inspiring or I was drawn to so all you have to do is scroll down. ENJOY!

Thoughts...

I dont want a mansion, i dont want the biggest boat!!!!... all I want is to find the beauty in each of you and FEEL appreciated.

As I rode my bike back from Art Walk Miami I released whatever I could from inside myself. I have crazy anxiety, never been prescribed anything and almost scared to have that possibility bc as soon as I open the door to that access I don't exactly know how numbing myself would really solve things. I believe we are here and its normal to suffer and when I suffer I have almost reached a level where I find enjoyment, I mean I have literally found out that you have the power to dig yourself as deep as you want to go. I think that things should be tampered with, but the anxiety inside me is what makes me me and what I feel is in some way beautiful. I am scared, sometimes. Never scared to do the things most people wouldn't have the balls to do, exactly for that reason... to brake against myself, bc I know exactly what your thinking.

I thought of things and enjoy taking the time to verbalize... to play with the words, to try to express, to put my energy into something that will hopefully define who I am and what I want. I do it for myself, but I do things for u really... I only do things so I can solve my own mystery... (to speak to whomever cares!)... something evolving, and each second in time that I have the inspiration to try to analyze myself I do it so that I can communicate it in general... to share. I want to share what I feel inside bc just maybe you want to know... maybe you don't and thats fine too so why are you even reading this I may ask??? We are all looking for something and I am looking and seeing how sad I really am inside... (saddened by "this n that" which in turn affects me). happy to do the absurdities I do for our entertainment bc I find you all very boring actually. I wont apologize for what I just said bc thats what I just felt in that moment! Always changing remember... I have hope and I hope you realize how much this has nothing of value to you but simply a fact that has tremendous feeling behind it and the feelings are now out there bc I took the time to express them. All I am trying to do really, is be me and share it with you.

DADARHEA
August 13 - August 31, 2010
3100 NW 7 Avenue / Miami / Florida / 33127

Welcome to DADARHEA. An idea born from an absurd dream involving pee filled supersoakers and deep fried laptops. It's a dadaist pizzeria. It's idea-rhea. It's the video art equivalent to fantasy island - where Devin Flynn is the Mr. Roarke to Jim Drain's tattoo.

Dadarhea is freeform video workshop with a group of guest artists who pride themselves on confounding their audiences, allowing them to employ animation, live action video (on location and greenscreen), musical performance, or any and all improvised & questionable behavior. Through the month of July, a residency at OHWOW (MIAMI) and at Bec Stupak's Honeygun Labs (NYC) will take place in order to experiment with the possiblity of total video saturation. The finished video will premiere on August 13th with an accompanying installation comprised of any and all emphemera related to the project. Dadarhea-ists include: Devin Flynn, Jim Drain, Naomi Fisher, Ara Peterson, Joe Grillo, Takeshi Murata, Francine Speigel, Melissa Brown, Marie Lorenz, Todd James, Brian Belott, Jessie Gold, Michael Williams, Erin Krause, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Jen Stark, Friends With You, Billy Grant, Laura Grant, Alison Kuo, Eric Fensler...and more!
